TEAM SUZUKI RACING NEWS 48 2021 Winter Issue TRIPLE SERIES CHALLENGE Naomichi Uramoto made an appearance in the Spanish World Superbike and British Superbike Championship rounds in 2021 aboard his GSX-R1000, as well as contesting the Spanish Superbike Championship. Uramoto #94 at Round 3 of the ESBK Spanish Superbike Championship. WORLD NEWS Spanish Superbikes – Motorland Aragon - Round 3 Another podium followed for Uramoto and his JEG Racing GSX-R1000 at Motorland Aragon after finishing the opening race in 8th. “Although I am happy that I took the podium, it wasn’t the best weekend for me as we had issues. The team and I will discuss this and try to find a solution for the next round.” Spanish Superbikes – Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya - Round 4 Uramoto raced to another strong performance at the fourth round of the Spanish ESBK Campeonato de España de Superbike Championship at the Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya and started the second half of the season in a strong 6th position in the championship. “It was a difficult weekend for me. I tried to elaborate on what I had, but I had to defend myself rather than trying to catch the rider in front. I will try to bounce back from this and prepare for the last half of the season. I thank everyone for always supporting me.” Spanish Superbikes – Circuito de Navarra - Round 5 The fifth round of the series at Circuito de Navarra Spanish Superbikes – Circuito de Navarra - Round 2 Uramoto raced to a podium position at second round of the 2021 ESBK CAMPEONATO DE ESPAÑA DE SUPERBIKE at the Circuito de Navarra in Northern Spain. A sudden downpour in Race 1, on lap four, made Uramoto back off and drop back to fourth place. When the rain stopped, Uramoto gained momentum, climbing to 3rd place at the flag for a hard-fought podium. Race 2 on Sunday put him third on the grid and he battled with three riders for second before eventually settling for 4th at the flag. “I was feeling really good with the bike from Day 1, so my results this weekend are not what I wanted. In Race 1, the sudden rain made me hesitate a little. In Race 2, I tried everything I could to pass the riders in front of me, but I just couldn’t make a safe pass on them.” “I am happy that I was able to take pole and finish both races on the podium. I am really thankful that my team worked hard for me. I would also like to thank Suzuki, JEG Racing and all the sponsors that supported me.” – Spanish ESBK was a mixed one for Uramoto and the JEG Racing team. With 7th and 6th positions, he came away holding 6th in the championship series. “My pace was good, and I have achieved all the targets I set before the race weekend, so that was a good thing, but obviously the result wasn’t where I wanted to be. I am going to do my best at the next round in Valencia, so that I can go home satisfied.” Spanish Superbikes – Valencia - Round 6 A tough weekend followed at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia due to lack of testing beforehand and some technical issues Uramoto and the JEG Racing Suzuki team during their WSBK wildcard ride.
