Suzuki 2020 Winter Magazine

TEAM SUZUKI RACING NEWS 4 2020 Winter Issue F ollowing a delayed Round 1 in Jerez, Suzuki’s chances of success looked very slim, with Alex Rins missing the race after suffering a bad shoulder break in qualifying, and Joan Mir crashing early on. The team dug deep and fought on. Step by step, the blue and silver GSX-RR machines of an ever-improving Mir and a recovering Rins moved up the points table, on to regular rostrums, the top-step of the podium, and eventually the lead of the championship for Mir with four rounds remaining. Finally, Mir secured the World Championship with one round to go and Team Suzuki Ecstar also claimed the Team World Championship. Rins’ season-long recovery and resurgence also saw him take a well-deserved third place in the title chase. “Mir secured the World Championship with one round to go” “This season has been the best I have ever experienced, Joan and Alex did an incredible job. We did hope to achieve the ‘triple crown’ and second place in the standings for Alex, but unfortunately this wasn’t possible following a difficult final race. However, it means we have a really big and exciting target for next year. Thank you to the entire Suzuki family, those in the factory and at the track. Everybody has worked very hard to get us to this point.” - SHINCIHI SAHARA - PROJECT LEADER: Team Suzuki Ecstar MotoGP MotoGP ™
