Suzuki 2019 Winter Issue

TEAM SUZUKI RACING NEWS 7 2019 Winter Issue I t’s finally the winter break and it’s time to look back at what has been an amazing 2019 season for me! I came into this season with only one clear goal - to get a victory. Apart from that, I was quite relaxed about what would come, I just knew I needed to work hard and do my best to run with the ‘top guys. I didn’t need to wait long to achieve my target, with my first ever win coming in Austin in Texas - a place I really like. A lot of people have asked me to describe the feeling of winning, and it’s so difficult to do… I can only say that when I crossed the line, it was like an explosion of emotions! It was a unique and unforgettable moment, especially after I had started to feel so nervous on the final laps! The first ever win is always going to be special, but of course, the victory at Silverstone was magic too! I was ecstatic. I had an epic battle with Marc Marquez and the photo of us at the finish line is one of my favourites ever! My team and I celebrated that Silverstone win to the max! I remember them all standing below the podium and blowing their whistles, all cheering for me, the noise was incredible, and we were so happy. It can’t all be champagne and celebrations, and every season has some bad points too. For me it was the crashes in Holland and Germany, that was hard to swallow, but together me and my team kept our heads up and looked forward, and we ended the season in a good way. At the moment I’m taking a break, like all the riders, because in winter we cannot test the bikes. It’s nice to spend some time at home but I’m training a lot too, I want to be really prepared for the 2020 season. I’ve already tried next year’s engine, and I could feel the improvements right away. So, I’m looking forward to jumping back on my GSX- RR next year at the Sepang Test. And then it will be full focus on the new season - where I hope for more wins and more podiums! Let’s see what we can do!” “The victory at Silverstone was magic.
