SUZUKI POSITIVE WITH 6TH IN BOL D’OR QUALIFYING
Team Suzuki Press Office – September 20.
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team – 6th (1.54.608)
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team will start tomorrow’s opening round of the 2019-2020 EWC Championship in sixth position following final qualifying for the Bol d’Or 24 Hour race today.
The 15-time Endurance World Champions spent a positive day dialling-in the GSX-R1000 in the hands of Vincent Philippe, Etienne Masson and Gregg Black at the Paul Ricard Circuit in the south of France.
The second qualifying session took place this morning in ideal weather conditions. The biggest part of the job was already been done yesterday by Vincent Philippe, with a better lap of 1.54.516. Today, the more experienced Suzuki rider focused on the latest settings rather than lap times whereas Masson, who was already strong yesterday, went faster, setting lap of 1.53.883, placing him at the top of his session.
Black, whose session was hit by yesterday’s rain, saw his lap cancelled today due to a red flag during his stint, just as he on his best lap, so finished with a lap time of 1.55.425.
The SERT riders set an average best lap time of 1.54.608 and sixth on the starting grid of the 83rd Bol d’Or.
The 2019 Bol d'Or race will be broadcast live on Eurosport from Saturday 21 September 14:45 (local time) until Sunday 15:30, in more than 60 countries. Live video will also be available on Eurosport Player in English and French.
Damien Saulnier - Team Manager:
"I am satisfied with our qualifying sessions. We tried the race settings and we performed well, which comforts us in the fact that our bike and riders have strong potential. Our three riders have a good feeling on the bike. Dunlop tyres are reacting well and they match the chassis perfectly. Yesterday’s session on the wet allowed us to train under these conditions and get ready in case of a wet race, so we are confident and ready for the race!"
