YOUNG RACES TO DOUBLE VICTORY AT ROAD ATLANTA 19/4/2010
Team Suzuki Press Office - April 19.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Blake Young followed up from his career-topping first-ever AMA Superbike victory on Saturday at Road Atlanta in Georgia to win Sunday's second-leg and leap into third place of the Championship after three rounds and six races.
The 22 year old was finally awarded the result on Saturday after the race had finished - due to a ride-through penalty awarded to race winner Josh Hayes that wasn't initially implemented - but in today's race, there was no controversy and Young took his GSX-R1000 to the front early on and kept it ahead convincingly.
With 130 points - 50 of which were accrued today - Young is third in the 2010 series that has seven GSX-R1000 Suzukis in the top 10 and which is headed by Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki's Jake Zemke followed by Young's team-mate Tommy Hayden in second, four points adrift on 141.
Today's podium was dominated by Team Suzuki riders; joining Young on the podium was Hayes and Hayden, as Zemke finished fourth and John Hopkins fifth.
