After being a single-rider squad for most of the previous three seasons, in 2016 Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing will finally be a two-rider team with James Stewart riding alongside Blake Baggett. Stewart is starting his fourth season with the squad. Both riders are slated to race the potent Suzuki RM-Z450 in AMA/FIM Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross.
With Stewart’s return to competition and Baggett entering his second season the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing team, the squad should be able to increase its R&D capabilities with both riders testing and sharing information and development feedback.
In Stewart and Baggett, Yoshimura Suzuki will have a great mix of riders with a proven veteran champion racing alongside one of the leading up-and-coming riders in Supercross and 450 Motocross.
In 14 years of professional racing Stewart has earned his place alongside the elite riders in the history of AMA Supercross and Motocross competition. He is ranked second on the all-time wins list in both AMA Pro Motocross and AMA/FIM Supercross competition. Stewart is the winningest active rider in both championships as well.
Already an AMA Pro 250 Motocross Champion, Baggett proved to be a standout in his rookie 450 campaign in 2015 with Yoshimura Suzuki. Baggett earned podium results in Supercross and 450 Motocross competition. In the latter he finished as the leading rookie in the series.
Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Mike Webb returns this year to continue the building heritage of the team. Webb has already led Suzuki to 22 major Off-Road Championships as that team’s longtime manager and he is eager to add Supercross and Motocross titles to his lengthy and impressive resume.
As Suzuki’s Supercross/Motocross team continues to evolve, Stewart, Baggett and the rest of the crew benefit greatly from their extensive partnership with Yoshimura, the performance giant behind Suzuki’s series-leading 13 championships in AMA Superbike racing.
